May 14, 2022 Literacy Event
How old were you when you read your first book? Your first romance novel? What would your life be like if you never picked up that first book and fell in love with reading?
Let's celebrate our love of reading and encourage others to become lifelong readers too!
Southern California Romance Writers invites you to participate in this year's Literacy Event, on Saturday, May 14, 2022 featuring:
From Pumpkin Patch to Christmas Cookies: How to Write a Heartwarming Hallmark Sweet Romance
You'll learn about writing for Hallmark and support literacy efforts in our community.
Here is how it works:
We ask for donations that will generate interest for our opportunity drawing.
In the past, we've had some wonderful items that have generated interest:
- Do you have expertise you'd like to share? Donate a certificate for an hour of your time to benefit a fellow writer
- Have some fantastic books others will love? Bundle them with a secret goodie.
- Yearning for some relaxation time? Donate a themed basket a spa night or delicious coffee/tea and a mug that makes you smile, or any fun creative ideas that you can conjure (hey, hey, keep it PG everyone....or not...ok, ok, PG it is).
On the 14th, all attendees will be able to drop their tickets in for each item they hope to win. The more tickets you buy, the greater the chances of winning. The more tickets you buy, the more we fundraise. The proceeds of the event will be donated to a charity in San Diego that supports literacy.
Where else do you get to be philanthropic and learn how to write for Hallmark?
We would love to have a variety of items for the opportunity drawing. We welcome expertise, books, themed baskets, and all donations that will garner interest and entice everyone to buy more tickets.
If you're providing a donation, please let us know what you'll bring so we can draft a description of the item for the event. Please go to our online form at: https://forms.gle/TyYTVFs1JbKoYvSg8
