Course Description

This class will take writers on the journey of a homicide investigation. Many of the popular crime shows on television are grossly inaccurate. This class will enable writers to infuse accurate realism into their stories.

Overview:

With the surge of Romantic Suspense, Urban Fantasy, and other crime driven stories, writers need to provide readers with realistic descriptions of criminal investigations as well as cop mindset.

What is the difference between a Homicide and a Murder?

What does it take to become a Homicide Detective?

What can you expect at a Homicide Crime Scene? And Just Who is in Charge?

What happens at/during a Postmortem?

When is the case considered 'closed'?

All too often writers rely on television or other entertainment media for information on how cops operate. This class with provide participants with the nitty gritty reality of a homicide investigation.

M.A. Taylor will help you construct an investigation with a strong and gritty sense of realism.

Instructor Bio

M.A. Taylor spent more than twenty years in law enforcement. After seven years with the California Highway Patrol (CHP), she became a Special Agent for the California Department of Justice (DOJ), spending over a decade in Narcotics...including assignment to a Federal DEA-HIDTA Task Force.
