Stillness and Deep work
Stillness and Deep work
“People don’t have enough silence in their lives because they don’t have enough solitude. And they don’t get enough solitude because they don’t seek out or cultivate silence. It’s a viscous cycle that prevents stillness and reflection, and stymies good ideas, which are almost always hatched in solitude.”
Ryan Holiday – Stillness is the Key
“Deep Work – Professional activities performed in a state of distraction-free concentration that push your cognitive capabilities to their limit. These efforts create new value, improve your skill, and are hard to replicate.”
Cal Newport – Deep Work
Most of us struggle to focus on what matters to us. There are constant distractions and interruptions. It is really a wonder we ever get anywhere on the things we really want to accomplish.
In this workshop I will share a simple method that I use to quiet the mind and bring focus to what you need to focus on so you can go deep - deep in thought, deep in the work, deep into what matters to you. I will also challenge you to follow the meditation several times and then actually work on something you want to go deep on. Perhaps it is the backstory of a complex character or the outline for your next chapter – doesn’t matter. What matters is that it matters - to you.
I look forward to our time together.
